No business in your business

Privacy, in plain words.

Raring doesn’t send your health data to us. There’s no Raring account, analytics, telemetry, advertising or remote crash-reporting service in the app.

This describes the Android app and raring.app.

Your phone connects directly to Garmin

Raring reads data from your Garmin account over encrypted HTTPS connections. It doesn’t connect to your watch, and your data doesn’t pass through a Raring server. Keep Garmin Connect syncing so that your latest watch data reaches Garmin.

Garmin still processes your sign-in and requests to its services. Its sign-in page, including any cookies and scripts it uses, is governed by Garmin’s privacy policy, not this page. Raring is independent and not affiliated with Garmin.

Your sign-in

You sign in on Garmin’s own page inside the app, including multi-factor authentication if enabled. Raring doesn’t read or store your password. It receives sign-in tokens so it can download data and stay signed in.

On Android, these tokens are encrypted with a key held in Android Keystore and stored in the app’s no-backup storage.

What is stored on your phone

Raring stores Garmin responses in a local database, including your Garmin profile, daily health and training metrics, sleep, and activities. Workout data may include GPS routes. The first sync requests up to 90 days of daily history; saved history can grow as you continue using the app.

This database is in Android’s private app storage. Raring does not add a separate database encryption layer; it relies on Android’s app isolation and device encryption. The app disables Android cloud backup and device-to-device transfer for its data.

Your notification preferences and sync state are also local. Raring has no server-side copy of this information.

Removing your local data

Use Settings → Sign out to remove your saved sign-in and downloaded Garmin history from Raring. You can also clear Raring’s storage in Android settings or uninstall it. None of these actions deletes the original data in your Garmin account.

If your Garmin session expires, Raring may ask you to sign in again while keeping previously downloaded history on your phone.

Notifications and diagnostics

Notifications are created on your phone, not sent through a Raring push service. They may contain health information visible on your lock screen. Turn them off in Raring’s Settings, or adjust their visibility in Android.

The app may write basic sync status and error messages to Android’s local system log. It does not upload logs or crash reports to us.

This website and downloads

This is a static GitHub Pages site. It has no analytics, tracking scripts, cookies set by Raring, forms or embedded third-party content. Fonts and images are served with the site.

Hosting is not the same as no data processing: GitHub receives your IP address and ordinary web-request information when you visit this site or download a release. GitHub may keep this information for security and operating its services. See GitHub’s privacy statement.

Following links to Garmin, GitHub or Obtainium takes you to services with their own privacy practices.

Questions or problems?

The source code is public. You can ask questions or report problems in GitHub Issues. Issues are public too: don’t post passwords, tokens, health records or screenshots containing personal information.
